I think both actors deserved a nomination for Best Actor of the Year.Įnglish: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono (48kHz, 24-bit)Įnglish SDH, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish.I saw this movie several years ago and taped it because I liked it so much. Equally, so was the superbly played Joseph Cotten. This remarkable actress would be ideal for the role of a young girl who doubts the guilt of her relative. The film is thoroughly thought out, well prepared and professionally shot.īy the way, it is no coincidence that Hitchcock wanted Joan Fontaine, who won an Oscar for 'The Suspicion', in the leading role. I believe that 'Shadow of a Doubt' has virtually no weaknesses. Truth be told, I can't even list everything. I'd also like to point out an episode at the bank, in which Joseph Cotten's character talks to the manager, bantering and telling him that he is annoyed by the tense atmosphere, which is simply stunning in its psychological intensity. For example, the recommendation of the little girl that you should not keep money in the bank, because they will be confiscated by the government, not so simple. It is worth a lot of comments from children, which seem to voice the most immodest thoughts from our subconscious. In the end, Hitchcock twists the plot so clearly that it doesn't matter whether Joseph Cotten's character turns out to be a murderer or not. He is in trouble and for most of the movie the viewer has to decide whether this strange man is a serial killer or not. The viewer is shown an ordinary American family where a relative comes to live. The maestro made a movie that develops the themes touched upon in 'The Lodger' and 'Suspicion'. It's hard to say exactly what triggered his murders, but Alfred Hitchcock became interested in the story. After that incident, his behavior became erratic. There is a story that when Nelson was ten years old, he was hit by a streetcar while riding his bicycle and was unconscious for six days. And he became famous for killing women in order to get rich. He was executed when he was only thirty years old. There was a serial killer in America, Earl Leonard Nelson.
